Hidden sans is a display typeface inspired by a historic brick company in my hometown of Vancouver, WA, USA. I was drawn to the methods used to make bricks, brick molds, and the overall utilitarian quality of brick typography in the U.S. I aimed for simplicity and subtlety, allowing the type to be a foundation to build on, like bricks are foundational to a structure.

Many buildings in Vancouver are built with Hidden bricks but the first and most notable is Providence Academy, which you can see featured in the historical images from the Clark County Historical Museum digital archive.
